Our Story

Several years ago, I wanted to find a livestock guardian dog for my farm. I looked through rescue centers and couldn’t find one.

This troubled me, and I decided to gather the resources to provide a network where livestock guardian dogs can work for other families. In the past I have worked as a dog trainer, and I have had multiple experiences rehabilitating dogs. When I started to work with livestock guardian dog (LGD) breeds I really connected with and understood them. I started to work with some rescue groups to save dogs that were in bad shelter situations and began to rehab them. This worked great for the dogs and the people eager to receive them. I am familiar with the breeds and their typical behaviors. I set myself apart from other centers by getting to know the personality of the dog and then creating a situation they will best thrive in. When the dog is in the perfect spot, the humans will win every time.

I try to get the dogs into a working situation, however some dog personalities don’t fit this type of work, and I keep this in mind as I find placements for the dogs. My ultimate goal is to get the dog into their permanent home as soon as possible. I will take as many dogs as I am able to feed and house. For me, it’s all about the dogs. I will provide support for the entire life of the dog once it is in its new home.

Eczema creme is absolutely amazing. Immediate relief from the itching and stopped a severe outbreak on my forearms, wrists, and all the way around my scalp, especially behind the ears. Within a week the bubbles had dried and gone away. Now after about two weeks of a few times a day and I'm noticing the discolored splotches disappearing. Thank you Tom for doing the research and all the effort to put together this unique and fine product.

Hay dude! Absolutely obsessed with your chanel and the good work. I know you have been struggling with the collar situation and I totally understand your specific needs. I have a few suggestions as a fellow rescuer with experience in these massive breeds needs. I also love a handle. The bigger the better. Padding helps grip with gloves. Look for MARTINGALE, 4/5", DOUBLE WEAVE or PADED WEAVE. Usually find on tactical or bull breed sites but they are made specially for resistance and built to last with comfort for the dogs. No backing out. No slip. Double rings for two leads or boundary settings. I'm not always a fan of buckles if it's a newbie, unhandled or anxious with the fiddle of it and gloves. Martingale slip on and width of the collar gives you balance. I also have a rope slip lead or collar around the top of the neck, behind the ears as my 'contact' while they learn my voice tone. I'm with you on zero negative methods and watching to see who they are or want to be. Safe, secure and simple. Comfortable and supportive. The XL bully sites have huge selection and sales. It makes a huge difference. Please give it a go. I hope it all goes well mate! Big love to you all.

I recently saw a video on Zena.

Is she up for adoption for a loving home in which she could be trained for pet therapy visits to convalescent homes (etc)? I just lost my 13 yr old dog (who is eerily similar to Zena in both looks and behavior). My dog and I went everywhere together; hiking. traveling, lounging on the couch together. She was independent, but very lovable and cuddly at the same time. She loved the affection that she received from the patients during pet therapy.

Best Regards, Vicki
